Robins Netball Club was formed in 1998 by Jane Milbourn, a player, coach and umpire.  She  was aware of the lack of opportunity for local girls at junior school to learn and participate in the sport of Netball so started the club with 13 girls from years 5 & 6 at Runwell Park, Wickford, on a Wednesday after school.  The enthusiasm grew and the word spread, so much so that the club outgrew the park and had to move to larger facilities at Beauchamp’s School, Wickford, in September 1999 and training moved to Friday evenings.  At the start of the 2002/03 season,  with an anticipated membership of 90, of which 80 were playing members a further move to Gloucester Park, Basildon, became necessary.  This venue has the facilities to enable the club to expand further and indeed it has! The club now boasts a membership in excess of 120 girls, from as young as 8 years old to the oldest, now 18.  Some of these older girls were in the initial 13!  Thus, we can now provide the opportunity for many more to learn, develop, participate and enjoy the sport of netball for many years to come.

The aim of the club is to promote and develop the sport of Netball, giving girls the opportunity to participate and learn the required skills of the sport through structured coaching sessions delivered by All England qualified coaches, matching skills, drills and fitness sessions to age and ability.  Enabling each player to reach their full potential within the club, or at County, or National levels.  The club will provide match play in local leagues for match squads:- Under 11 to Under 13 (Chelmsford Junior League) and Under 14 and above (Basildon League) for the coming season, also tournaments, end of season tour and social events in a friendly and safe environment.

Being keen to introduce everyone to the game of netball Robins NC hold training sessions for our 'development' group which currently has children from the age of 8 to 11 in it.  These sessions are held on a Friday evening 6.00pm to 7.30pm and everyone is welcome!

Training is during school term time at Gloucester Park, Basildon, Essex.
For girls in School Year 7 and below  training is on a Friday between 6:00pm and 7:30pm
